Vulcan (Wolkendorf)

The Romanic church built in the 13th century was destroyed by Turks in the battles of 1421 and 1432, and in 1521 it was rebuilt in Gothic style and fortified. Gabriel Bathory and his army destroyed the fortress and the church in 1611, and they were completely rebuilt in the following years.

Carta (Kerz)

The monastery was founded by Cistercians in 1202, the order's most eastern monastery in Europe. The choir is still used by the Lutheran church for services.
